The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship’s Messler Gallery has put out a Call for Entries on behalf of its Maine Wood 2008 juried show. This will be an exhibition of contemporary work by Maine craftspeople in furniture making, woodcarving, sculpture, and (of course) turning. About a year ago Mark Irving sent me a disk containing photos from a half dozen monthly meetings and I promptly misplaced it. Found it today while looking for a flashlight (don’t ask), so I guess it’s high time I got them posted. First up in our blast from the past series is the February 2003 trip the chapter took to the Poland Spring Metal Spinning Company. And the next one is Ken Keoughan’s November 2003 demo on tall elegant vases.

Have just posted some photographs from Al Stirt’s demo from way back in November 2001. I’ve had these ready to go for quite a while, but no one (including Al) could recall when the demo was! Thanks to Ken Keoughan who did some detective work to find out.
I’ve also posted some photos of the work of several members in new Gallery pages. Look for Mac Ray, Roy Antaki, Dave Lancaster, Peter McCrea, Burt Truman, Ken Keoughan, Ken Shepherd, and Jacques Vesery. A few are just one photo, but at least it’s progress!
And I’ve just posted about twenty additional turnings on the Lost and Found page. Sure would like some help determining who turned them along with the other usual info.

Mark Irving just handed me a CD with tons of photographs on it going back about three years; and a two-inch tall stack of old newsletters dating way back to 1997. It’ll take time but I’ll do my best to get it all posted. I’ll have to scan the newsletters to create a pdf, and as a result, they won’t be in color.
