About Us Welcome to our web site.
We are the Maine Woodturners, a dedicated group of folks who share an abiding passion for turning.
Formed in 1994 at David Lancaster’s home in Week Mills, Maine. Chartered with the American Association of Woodturners soon after, the Maine Woodturners has become the must be place for woodturning demonstrations and knowledge throughout Central, Southern and Western Maine. Since mid 2006 the Maine Woodturners has help enable four other AAW Chapters in the state.
Our intent is to foster the advancement and education of woodturning through our monthly meeting and demonstrations. Also, to reach out to communities via county fairs, schools, and craft workshops.
View our history and enjoy the sampler of woodturned projects members have brought to our Show ‘n Tells. Read the past newsletters from 1997 onward to get the richness and texture of the members as we learn, sometimes relearn, our craft and art.
More important if you are looking to turn wood and need help in organizing how to go about it please come to a meeting. All of the officers and many of the “old timers” would be happy to help you start making shavings.
